The same maids are a naval battle that took place in the year 35 AH, corresponding to the year 655 AD, between the Muslims and the Byzantine Empire, and ended with the victory of Muslims.
This battle represented the end of the Byzantine state control over the Mediterranean. The Muslims at that time were under the leadership of Abdullah bin Saad bin Abi Al -Sarh, may God be pleased with him. The Byzantines were under the leadership of Constantine II, my nephew Hercules. In this battle, the Muslims established great stability, and they did well, until God gave them the shoulders of their enemies, and that was in the succession of the Commander of the Faithful, Othman bin Affan, may God be pleased with him. Al -Masoudi, may God have mercy on him, said:
King of Constantine bin Constantine, brother of Hercules - and it was said that he was the son of Hercules - nine years and six months in the succession of Othman bin Affan, who was conquered in the sea in about a thousand warships, etc. : Abdullah bin Saad bin Abi Sarh, so they met at the sea, and they were on Constantine, and his boats were wrapped, and most of his men perished, and he survived in a boat, and he fell on the island of Skilaya from African countries.
These invaders were called: the maids for the large number of boats and their masts, and that was in the year 34 AH
