The first volume covers the period before the First World War and is devoted to childhood, education in the cadet corps, the family history of the Mordvinovs, service as personal adjutant of the Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich, and later Nicholas II. A special place in the memoirs is devoted to his communication with the members of the imperial family in an informal atmosphere, which allowed Anatoly Mordvinov to genuinely love those to whom he served faithfully with devotion preserved in his heart until his death.
